Expert Siding Project on 3913 Cedar Street Washougal, WA 98671

Project Overview

KVN Vancouver Siding replaced the siding on a two-story home on Cedar St in Washougal, Washington, where the exterior had faded and dulled after years of sun and rain. The old dark brown finish looked flat and dated, especially on the large rear elevation facing the backyard and deck.

The homeowner wanted two things: a brighter, more modern look, and siding that would hold up to Pacific Northwest rain, wet winters, and hot, dry summers. We installed a James Hardie fiber cement lap siding system in a warm taupe tone, paired with dark bronze accents for a clean, balanced finish.

Project type: Siding replacement
Location: Cedar St, Washougal, WA
Company: KVN Vancouver Siding
Primary goals: Better curb appeal, stronger moisture protection, lower maintenance

The Transformation: From Faded and Dark to Warm and Bright

The before photos show siding that had lost its depth of color, making the whole back of the house read as one heavy, dark mass. After the replacement, the home looks lighter, more open, and noticeably more current.

Key improvements:

Fresh lap siding with straight, even lines across both stories, giving the large wall sections a crisp, uniform look
Warm taupe body color that brightens the exterior and pairs well with the green lawn, wood deck, and nearby trees
Dark bronze fascia and gutters that frame the roofline and add contrast
Body-matched corner trim, window trim, and downspouts so the exterior reads as one clean surface instead of a patchwork of parts
Refreshed box-out window with a dark accent roof that now stands out as a design feature
Updated vent covers and exterior fixtures detailed cleanly into the new siding

Why James Hardie Siding for Washougal Homes

Washougal sits at the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge, where homes face heavy rain, strong east winds, and summer sun. James Hardie fiber cement is built for those conditions. It resists moisture, rot, warping, pests, and fire, and it holds paint far longer than wood or vinyl. For this homeowner, that means less upkeep and an exterior that keeps its color for years.

Materials used: James Hardie fiber cement lap siding, painted finish, color-matched trim and downspouts, dark bronze accent details
