Sandy, Oregon is the western gateway to Mt. Hood, that beautiful, snow-capped volcano which dominates the area around Portland. Hikers and travelers pass through here on their way to the Mt. Hood National Forest and even up the mountain.
Sandy has about 11,000 residents and is known for a few things beyond Mt. Hood: the local Sandy River for which it’s named (a big fishing location), the Buddha Kat winery, and a few excellent restaurants and bakeries, not to mention the gorgeous surrounding dogwood forests.
It was here that the Sandy siding contractors at KVN Construction helped restore an old home to its former glory and – the homeowner feels – beyond.
The exterior of this home was really in shambles. The owners knew just who to call, though – the exterior contractors at KVN Construction. As soon as we were able we came over and got to work. We fixed up the roof by installing brand new shingles, but it was in the siding that the real problem lay. It was underneath this siding that we found plenty of dry rot, as can often happen.
However, we solved the problem by swapping out the original T1-11 siding and replacing it with CDX Plywood. We put Weathersmart Drainable Exterior House Wrap around the home and finally applied James Hardie Siding along with Hardie Trim. To finish off, we applied some Sherwin Williams Exterior Paint. The cost of new James Hardie siding in Sandy depends on a few factors. The most obvious is the size of the home. For an average home of 1,500 square feet, we’d say the cost runs between $12,000 and $18,000.
Not everyone needs to get brand new siding installed – your old siding may just need a bit of a facelift.
The cost of repairing your siding also depends on a few factors. First, the age – the older the siding is, the more extensive the damage tends to be. The material used is also important. Vinyl siding, for example, will cost between $400 and $800 to repair per every 200 square feet.
If you choose to work with us, we’ll be honest as to the state of your siding and costs. For instance – sometimes it’s makes more sense to completely replace the siding if it’ll be less expensive in the short- or long-term.
